Last week we held our very first song camp at Brentwood Benson. The camp was hosted by Capitol CMG Publishing and put a focus on writing songs for the church — specifically for the choir. Several writers from different genres joined together for two days to write songs on a variety of topics to minister to the people of the church. Our Creative Director Luke Gambill remarked, “Above the fun and energy of the camaraderie, the pay-off was having songs birthed that are rich in text, full of life, and theologically sound. Proud of these guys and gals.”
Songwriters this year included Travis Cottrell, Sue C. Smith, Kenna Turner West, Krissy Nordhoff, Barry Weeks, Daniel Doss, Chris McClarney, Lee Black, David Moffitt, Wes King, and Tony Wood. Arrangers Phil Nitz and Russell Mauldin also stopped by to talk to the songwriters about what’s important to them in a song. Take a look below at some of the social media engagement of this year’s camp. We can’t wait to see what the future holds. Who knows? Maybe next year we’ll even have t-shirts.
