“The joy of the Lord is your strength.” (Nehemiah 8:10)
Being joyful is not always easy. Life sometimes gives you circumstances where you have to choose joy. But joy is an incredible thing. Joy is like the roots of a tree. You may not notice at first, but when you experience joy, it travels to the deepest parts of your heart. It begins to strengthen and grow. Like the roots, joy sustains us when life is hard.
Joy is also like a planted seed. When you “plant” joy in your life, it begins to mature and grow. Soon, that joy bursts forth like a beautiful bloom of a magnificent rose. Joy emerges to reveal the beauty of life.
As we prepare our hearts for the Christmas miracle of Jesus’ birth, remember that joy comes in all shapes and sizes. It may not happen all at once, it may appear in small doses. Joy comes in stages and seasons. But the joy of the Lord is our strength, and it is through this strength that we experience the grace of God and connect with one another.
At Christmas, express your good tidings of great joy. Let the Lord know you love Him and inspire others with joy that radiates like the sun. When you do, you will spread seeds of joy all across the earth.
