Ephesians 4:32 ~
Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
In the classic worship song, Mighty to Save, the song opens with the statement, “Everyone needs compassion, a love that’s never failing.” These words cut to the deepest need of humanity. We all desire to be loved, known, and cared for, especially when things are hard. For many of us, we look to God as the sole provider of that comfort and compassion. The good news is that God is always there to do just that. The better news is that He also gave us one another! God is not our only source of compassion. He has given us a desire for community, where we can unite in faith and learn to care for each other. In Ephesians 4:32, Paul reminds the church to be there for one another — showing kindness, forgiveness, and compassion. These are foundational components of the body of Christ. In light of this truth, who do you need to show compassion to in your life? Are there ways you can be the church as you go through your day? Pray, thanking God for knowing our need for compassion and giving us opportunities to meet that same need for others.
